End of season: welcome winter!

'Tis over again that beautiful summer...

After a hugely busy season, on the island and at ZoWad, it is now (only) starting to get really quiet on the island. At ZoWad it is always nice and busy :-)!

The animals are coming out again: pheasants, birds of prey, hares and in a few weeks the seals at Cape North. The sheep are now mated: I also didn't know that the rams get a stamp tied on so they can 'stamp' the ewes with their own colour...it has become a cheerfully dotted meadow behind our cottages :-)!

The Mill House is also running like clockwork for 2024, which we are of course very happy about. It is a great compliment when guests book for the second and even now third time. We obviously like the cottage, and the reviews and guestbook entries also make us very happy! : but we remain very critical, we clean ourselves silly and we keep improving. The skirting boards are renewed, we plaster what needs to be plastered and whitewash the walls before the new season starts and will soon bring the cottage into Christmas spirit. Fortunately, we have already taken care of the outside lighting: it's already dark from 4.30 in the afternoon, really dark!

In spring, we will also start working on the realisation of the B&B studio, which still needs some work. The bathroom is finished, the furnishings are figured out and quite a bit, outside we still have a lot to do because the weather has not (been) optimal so far. Understatement.

Furthermore, we are remodelling our own extension a bit with skylights and a new staircase (is the plan). we will also realise a study for both of us and have nice daydreams about a wellness garden with jacuzzi and maybe one day a sauna: overlooking the (w)island.

About the weather: it has never been as wet as last summer until now on the island. All the squalls seemed to come over Texel and Vlieland. The pumping stations were pumping themselves silly, we were walking in boots and the sheep were paddling in the meadow. We hope for a slightly drier 2024 and wish our guests and ourselves a dry and preferably slightly warm spring and summer 2024. And the sheep the departure of the nasty bluetongue virus.

On to 2024, we wish you all a nice cozy winter and maybe see you at ZoWad in 2024!
